ANJANA VISHNU

About Anjana

Anjana Vishnubhotla is an Indian-American film composer and viola player whose music draws from classical, romantic orchestral repertoire and modern electronic film scoring. Specifically inspired by cultural landscapes, emotional narratives, and the filmic environment, Anjana strives to bring films to life through film scoring.

She received her undergraduate degree in Cinema and Media Studies and Music at the University of Chicago, where her film background has shaped her narrative instincts to score to picture. In addition to playing viola in the UChicago Symphony Orchestra, Anjana has worked at film production companies, such as Picture North, as a production assistant which has granted her perspective and experience in collaborating with directors and producers. On top of numerous short films, Anjana recently composed for a psychological thriller feature film, The Lapse. She is collaborative and open-minded to other ideas and wants to foster a welcoming project environment. Anjana is continuing and combining her love of both film and music at the NYU Screen Scoring Masters, where she is adept in creating a hybrid orchestral-electronic sound through tech manipulation.

Combining the two backgrounds of orchestra and Anjana's love of dramas, science fiction, and thrillers, she strives to find a balance between these soundscapes while also branching out into new genres. Anjana hopes to expand her mark in feature films and make impactful, explorative music for cinema.
